Beetroot Boltardy produces an excellent crop of sweet, tender beetroot, perfect for early sowings due to its bolting resistance. AGM variety.

The multi-purpose crop! Not only can you harvest the root for picking, slicing or cooking you can harvest the leaves and cook them just as you would a salad. Or if using organic or untreated seed you can sow these heavily in a seed tray and harvest when the shoots are super young and tender.

Although traditional sowing times are March-August you can grow beetroot all year although root growth is much slower in the winter months and it will require growing undercover, you can always harvest them early as a baby leaf beet for a nice bright addition to a winter salad mix.

Sowing Beetroot

Best sown direct (unless growing a baby leaf or microgreen crop!), seeds germinate in 11-21 days depending on the variety. Ready to harvest in around 120 days. Regular sowings will ensure a continued supply all Spring & Summer. See our beetroot grow guide for more detailed growing instructions.
